Since my earliest memories of childhood, painting and drawing have been as natural and vital as breathing. Later writing joined these essential occupations, and has grown increasingly important to me in the recent years. My training as a stonemason has provided me with a solid foundation for sculptural craft, but working with hard substances demands much time. During my studies at the Dresden Art Academy I became familiar with the fundamentals of setting and printing with wood and lead type. Since then I have reproduced ca. 70 original graphic books using these highly time-consuming methods. In 2000, in collaboration with Kerstin Henrion and Claudia Christ, I produced a 4-minute stop-motion animation devoted to the tango. I would love to shoot further films – the mind is bursting with ideas, but the necessary time and money are more than I can spare for the time being. |
